Dry Needling/ MCA Needling

How many treatment do I need?

Generally, we recommend three session course about four or six weeks apart. You will be evaluated by me and I will determine if you need more treatments.

Note that following the aftercare protocol is extremely important to get the best chance of a successful result. The body healing response plays a big part in the final result, but this is not something we can control on our side!

Is this treatment suitable to all skin types?

Dry tattooing can be used on all colours of skin, but dark skins prone to over pigmentation and keloid scarring are not advised to go ahead. Once approved for treatment, scarring, hypo or hyper pigmentation are unlikely risks, as no heat is used and the surface of the skin is not removed.

All these questions will be assessed during the initial pre-treatment consultation.

Does it hurt?

The treatment is similar to normal Micro Needling procedure. We use numbing cream before treatment to reduce to a minimal the pain but we recommend taking some paracetamol before treatment if you have a low pain threshold. Please do NOT take aspirin as this will affect blood clotting at the treatment site.

How does it look after treatment?

The procedure causes blood to come into the treated area, without removing the top layers of skin. Over the weeks and months new collagen is formed i.e. healthy new skin instead of poor quality scar tissue, stretched or creased skin. A 20-50% improvement can be seen in just one session, with a course of 3 recommended for best results.

How long do the results last?

The results are permanent once you have healed. That does not mean that one treatment solves all problems, as some scars are worse and require multiple treatments. Oftentimes, the effects from multiple treatments are paramount to that of those being treated one or two times.  Furthermore, each set of scar improvements is permanent

Permanent Makeup

What is permanent makeup?

Permanent Makeup, also known as cosmetic tattooing, Micropigmentation and Microblading, is a form a tattoo implanting pigment into the epidermis layer of the skin to mimic the look of conventional makeup. Although its called Permanent Makeup, it does actually fade and top ups are required to maintain your results.

How long does pmu/microblading last?

This varies from person to person because skin type, diet, genetics and environmental factors can all contribute to how long the pigments will be retained. For instance, sun bed use and sun exposure have a bearing on the pigment retention, but this can be prevented with proper protection. Maisie will advise you on the best ways to care for your Permanent Makeup. We typically advise clients to return for a colour boost after 12-18 months to keep your Permanent Makeup fresh.

Will you top up other peoples pmu work?

No. Our touch up service is only for our existing clients. If you have had your brows done elsewhere, we do not go over them until they have completely faded. Once your brows are ready to be re-done, full prices apply. We are able to offer a removal service where old work is unwanted, but not everyone is suitable candidate for this and in some cases laser may be a better option. Please contact us for more information regarding this.

What will happen at my pmu/microblading appointment?

First I will discuss your desired result, and talk about shape and style, and together we will choose a colour that will complement your skin tone. I will draw in your, eyebrows or lip blush with pencil to make sure you are happy with the shape before the treatment begins. Treatments usually take between 2 to 3 hours in total. After 4-8 weeks once the area has heeled you will return for a touch up session to perfect the Permanent Makeup.

Will you tattoo my brows exactly as I draw them?

If you arrive with perfect eyebrows then of course I will be happy to follow your own shape, but the likelihood of this happening is slim. I will measure and design your brows carefully to suit your face. You have chosen to come to a professional who is experienced in their field, so please follow the advice if I thinks the shape needs to be changed.

Is pmu/microblading safe?

I adhere to the highest standards of health and safety. You can be assured that all risks are minimised and that you are in safe hands. However, because the treatment involves implanting pigment into the skin, that means it is invasive. While this is what provides permanent cosmetics with its long-lasting benefits, there are also some risks. As with any form of tattooing, these can include allergic reaction, infection or scarring. You will be given the best aftercare advice to follow after your treatment and it is your responsibility as the client to follow this advise once you leave the clinic.

What is microblading?

Microblading involves creating tiny hair likes strokes in the skin, a fine micrblade is used to gently implant pigment into the skin to mimic the look of your natural brow hairs. Microblading is great for anyone wanting to improve and enhance their brows.

What is lip blush?

Lip blush is a cosmetic tattoo that involves gently implanting pigment into the lips to add a flush of colour and achieve a more defined lip shape. The treatment is a great option to rejuvenate lips that have lost their natural pigment at the border, and by replacing this lost pigment we can also help the lips to appear fuller.

What should I do before my lip blush treatment?

If you have ever had a coldsore its important that you prepare for your lip tattoo treatment by taking a course of anti-viral tablets such as Aciclovir or Zovirax. This is critical to the success of your treatment as the lip blush process can trigger an outbreak where the coldsore virus lays dormant. This can be painful and can cause a poor healed result due to bad pigment retention. It's also important to keep your lops hydrated in the run up to your treatment, dry lips are more difficult to work with and again this could negatively effect your healed result.

What are the benefits of lip blush?

Benefits of lip blush include:

  • Fuller looking, better shaped lips

  • More defined lip border

  • Long lasting results

  • Waterproof, smudge-free lip colour with less need to apply conventional makeup

  • Great option for those who don't like to wear makeup, or simple don't have the time

If I've had lip filler am I able to also have lip blush?

Yes, the two treatments work really well together, you just need to plan your appointments carefully so that the lips have enough time to heal in between treatments. We recommend waiting at least 6-8 weeks between treatments.
